Are you willing? Then chase, pursue, love, and give relentlessly, and be healed…

Mark 1: 40-42 NLT “A man with leprosy came and knelt in front of Jesus, begging to be healed. “If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean,” he said. Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out and touched him. “I am willing,” he said. “Be healed!” Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the man was healed.

Have you ever wanted something for someone so bad that it made you angry?

I desperately wanted my husband to get a job that he had applied for. He deserved it, he wanted it, in my mind he was the best person for the job. But…because of something completely ridiculous, he didn’t get it. It flew all over me! Anger…feeling like this is so unfair…and yet compassionate for Him…I hated to see him feel rejected. If I could have done anything to take his pain away and give him that job, I would have. But all I could say to him was, “I guess it just wasn’t meant to be honey”. And love him, and be there for him.

It is so hard for us to see someone that we love and care about hurt, knowing that oftentimes all we can offer them is our love, presence, and prayers, and ride out the storm with them.

I find the verses above from Mark so interesting. What fascinates me the most is that in my NLT bible there is a star by the word compassion, which relates you to the note that reads “some texts say moved with anger”.

Moved with compassionate anger, Jesus reach out and touched him.
Instantly the man was healed.

I believe He feels the same compassionate anger for you. Anger because you are His child, and it upsets Him to see you hurting. And compassion because He loves you so deeply and dearly.

I know at times it seems as if healing will never come, and that He doesn’t hear our cries. But this is not true…lie...POP!

He is faithful. His loves endures forever dear sister, and He sees you right where you are at. Not only does he see you, but he hurts for you, he is angered over your pain, and he longs to heal you. He will heal you.

I know you may be tired, and feel like giving up. But, ohhhhhh nooooo you don’t! Relentlessly pursue Him dear sister! Chase after all that healing with all your heart, soul, and mind and do not stop until your “leprosy” disappears!!!!

Are you willing? Then chase, pursue, love, and give relentlessly, and be healed…

  1. Stephanie,

Thank you once again for your blog and posts. I have never thought of Jesus being angry over what happened to me. But in therapy last week this is exactly what I struggled with. I am finally starting to feel angry about what was done to me and I felt such guilt over that! "God wants me to forgive, I cant be angry, I have to be a good christian woman" etc... This is comforting to know that it is okay to be angry sometimes over things that have hurt us and that maybe Jesus too feels angry over what he did to me. I needed to hear that.

  2. Stephanie,

I just don't know how to keep going, I mean I do, keep breathing! but all joy and hope seems too far away, I feel like I need to sleep and want to wake up with the rawness of it all taken away, or at least know what I've got to do to get better. I feel like I'm circling, my steps are slower and smaller and can't keep going.

  4. Wow this was such a awesome post from God to you to us. Thank you for allowing the Lord to ouse you to encourage us to pursue after God with all that we have. I realize that healing will not come easy, but it will come. Notice that in every place just about that healing was performed by Jesus that person receiving the healing he required then to do something even if it was to believe, to have faith, to go wash in the Jordan river, to put mud on their eyes ir whatever it was he required them to do something. I believe that he is requiring something from all of us in the study and that is to fight, believe, have faith, study his word and the book, do our homework, be committed to the process of healing and Do not give up. May God bless you always and thank you for your blog where I'm finding healing and courage to walk in it.
    Blessings to you,
    Lora

  5. It helps more than I can say to have the perspective that Jesus was just as angry about what happened to me as I felt sometimes. It helps to know that as I pursue him, he is faithful to be found. That as I seek him with all my heart he will be found by me. I know he hears me when I cry out to him. Jer 29:11-13 is my life verse. It is so true.

  9. Tiffany, I so hear you girl. Depression is anger turned inwards. So let that anger out girl! I was with you in not even knowing I had anger! And it is okay to be angry, and then once we feel it we are able to release it!

  10. Lx, please know that what you are feeling is normal. Not COMFORTABLE by any means, but normal. As you process through things sometimes it will get worse before it gets better, I REALLY want to encourage you to see a Christian counselor, because they can help you figure out what is keeping you stuck and help you move past. Sometimes it is as simple as that counselor helping you to see some things and perspective that you aren't able to see yourself to push you through to the next level.
